Local Law Enforcement
Approximately 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the German city of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Vehicles, building surfaces and postal boxes were defaced, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a official communication.
Law enforcement state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish liquid.
The substance had been placed in the pattern of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then discovered multiple other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws banning the public display of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are currently not cognizant of any physical harm in relation with the event," they commented.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have appealed to the public for tips.
A senior representative commented the attack left him without words and had to be addressed quickly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the extremist violent incident in 2020," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant aiming at people of immigrant origin in February 2020.
