Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in power within the urban setting.
Warning: Spoilers for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their separate journey, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), the agile character (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Warrior Group
Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who prefer a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look mismatched, but the events of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to head next after a intense first encounter with the antagonists.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The antagonist then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, wants vengeance.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- Tyranny and The cleric, having defied his family’s wishes to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Viewers can look forward to discovering which players will be in which group in the season’s last Overture episode, available to watch on October 24.
